It was an amazing day to welcome participants to the Pathways to Empowerment program today – our first since the COVID ‘lock down’.

The Zahra Foundation is proud to have been awarded a $100,000 grant ($50,000 over 2 years) by the Financial Counselling Foundation to support the continuation of our financial counselling service that supports women affected by domestic and family violence.

Today, Zahra Foundation in partnership with Zonta Club of Adelaide Flinders Inc hosted the 3rd series of ‘Food for Thought’ workshops which is supported by a grant from the Zonta International Foundation.

We are excited to announce that the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR), through the Strengthening Rural Communities Program will provide funding for a ‘Pathways to Empowerment’ program to be held at Murray Bridge.

Zahra Foundation’s Specialist Financial Counselling Service is a free and confidential service for women experiencing financial hardship as a result of domestic and family violence.

We are excited to announce BankSA Foundation has provided vital funding for an earlier intervention program, addressing the disadvantage younger female-identifying and non-binary people experiences as a result of domestic and family abuse.

Today at the Zahra Foundation we received this picture of an amazing Vision Board which was created by one of our participants form the Pathways to Empowerment program.

The Zahra Foundation congratulates Elkie Hogg for being first over the line, closely followed by Antonietta Livolsi and Luke Evans. All participants carried on their back a backpack with food items for Foodbank and it was an amazing achievement given the sandy conditions of the beach.

What an amazing day for the Zahra Foundation to be able to reflect and celebrate with friends, family, colleagues, fur babies and to those who couldn’t make it we say thank you.

Our Financial Counselling service is still currently available for 1:1 appointments, however on confirmation of appointment if any client indicated that they have fever or have been unwell their appointments will be postponed.

We are pleased to advise that the Zahra Foundation Women on the Run sponsored by Credit Union SA is still able to go ahead following today’s advice from the Government.

The Zahra Foundation was pleased to be able to support the #March4Hannah rally that was held on Parliament House steps on 4 March 2020. The murder of Hannah and her children triggered another national dialogue around domestic and family violence – how many times do we need to have these conversations?

The Zahra Foundation would like to say thank you to the White Ribbon Breakfast Committee for the recent donation from the sale of the Port Adelaide Football Club ‘White Ribbon’ caps which were sold at the breakfast in November 2019. The funds provided will continue the valuable work of the Zahra Foundation in providing support and services to women and children affected by domestic and family violence.
