The Zahra Foundation supports women impacted by domestic abuse, providing education and empowerment programs, specialist financial counselling, brokerage and grants to women throughout Australia, promoting economic well-being and empowering participants to build pathways towards employment and education.
Through a collective impact model, key partnerships and technology, The Zahra Foundation is dedicated to creating an Australia where all women are economically empowered and safe.
Pathways to Empowerment Suite
Programs
Our Pathways to Empowerment Suite offers a range of programs for women impacted by domestic abuse.
Programs include:
EMBARK: Workshop and webinar series (see list under workshops)
EXPLORE: Discovery program
EMPOWER: Empowerment program
Connect with yourself and other women within safe and supportive spaces, surrounded by an understanding and non-judgemental community of support workers.
You will have the opportunity to build skills and confidence, learn about healthy relationships, communication, decision making for your future, understand trauma responses and discover pathways to education, training and employment, empowering you to build the life you want.
Zahra Foundation is a proud provider of adult education programs in South Australia, supported by the SA Government. Through ACE funding, Zahra delivers the Pathways to Empowerment programs and is a proud member of Adult Learning Australia.

The course is lead by trauma and violence-informed specialist facilitators who are compassionate, inclusive, supportive and ensure the space remains comfortable for everyone participating.

This program is for women and non-binary people of all ages who have been impacted by or are recovering from Domestic Abuse. Programs are free, confidential and voluntary.

8 Session program
The group sessions are held during school hours and terms and are delivered across regional locations in South Australia. Online program coming in 2026!

This 10 week program, supported by the QLD government, is specifically designed for women currently in refuges to build confidence in foundation and work skills to rebuild their life. Includes ongoing support and access to job networks and employment opportunities. Available in Brisbane only.

Comprehensive 12 month program, delivered in 4 modules, 1 day per week.
The group sessions are held during school hours and terms and are delivered across 4 metro locations in South Australia.

Pathways to Empowerment- EMPOWER modules:
EMPOWER module 4
Healthy Futures
The Healthy Futures module focuses on goal setting, work ready skills, and personal attributes. Participants will develop a pathways plan that sets goals for their future education, employment or training.
EMPOWER module 2
Healthy Communication
The Healthy Communication module delves into values, boundary exploration, effective communication strategies, recognising communication 'red flags,' and managing emotions. The focus is on fostering respectful relationships through healthy communication, as well as things to be concerned about and what to do if that happens.
The Healthy Decisions module builds focus on core values, strengths, digital literacy, social norms, and influences. It equips participants with planning and decision-making skills, emphasising societal and personal empowerment, and includes financial counselling.
EMPOWER module 1
Healthy Relationships
The Healthy Relationships module focuses on exploring values, social norms, and relationship impacts on self and others. Engaging in reflective and creative activities to foster reconnection with self and community while emphasising awareness of individual rights and develop an understanding of healthy relationships.
